Sarena, ein Grundgestein der britischen Motorradszene und insbesondere eng verwachsen mit der Arbeit im Moto Guzzi Club von England (http://www.motoguzziclub.co.uk) durfte ich schon in den 90er Jahren kennenlernen und wir trafen uns schon oft in England, Colombres, Lodola nach Mandello, meistens mit ihrer Moto Guzzi California I, deren Merkmal die vielen Aufkleber von Clubs in ganz Europa, auf der Windschutzscheibe sind. Ich habe in meinem Leben nicht oft eine solche Frau getroffen, die voller Energie und mit einem immer gewinnenden Lachen und Optimismus durchs Leben geht, obwohl es ihr sicherlich nicht oft danach ist. Es ist nicht nur der Chief Secretary von Motoguzziclub und die viele Organisation für das jährliche Treffen und was alles damit zusammenhängt, dabei sind Ausfahrten nach Europa zu befreundeten Guzzi Clubs und auch immer wieder nach Mandello del Lario zu Moto Guzzi und Al Verde. Hoffentlich können wir uns bald mal in Mandello verabreden.
Sarena, a staple of the British motorbike scene and in particular closely involved with the work of the Moto Guzzi Club of England (http://www.motoguzziclub.co.uk), I had the pleasure of meeting back in the 1990s and we met many times in England, Colombres, Lodola to Mandello, usually with her Moto Guzzi California I, the hallmark of which is the many stickers from clubs all over Europe on the windscreen. I have not often in my life met such a woman, who goes through life full of energy and with an always winning laugh and optimism, although she certainly does not often feel like it. It’s not just the Chief Secretary of Motoguzziclub and all the organising for the annual meeting and everything that goes with it, there are trips to Europe to friendly Guzzi clubs and also time and again to Mandello del Lario to Moto Guzzi and Al Verde. Hopefully we can meet up in Mandello soon.
Paul ist der jahrzehntelange Lebengefährte von Sarena und ich durfte ihn mal in seinem Moto Guzzi Geschäft in Südwest London besuchen. Das war eine wahre Schrauberbude mit Leben (Corsa italiana) und Flair, aber die Zeiten für Guzzisti in der damaligen Zeit war in England nicht einfach und nach langem Kampf mussten sie aufgeben und den Laden schließen. Nur von alten Ersatzteilen und Reparaturen an Guzzis aus den Siebzigern
kannst du nich vier Arbeiter bezahlen. Das wurde in der Guzzi-Szene damals nicht gesehen und falsch eingeschätzt. In Colombres ist er oft mit einer wunderschönen V750S in schwarz/grün zu sehen. Man kannte ihn oft mürrisch und schnippisch, aber das letzte Jahr in Colombres war er freundlich und zu Späßen aufgelegt, da sich das Leben zu seinen Gunsten hin entwickelt hat und er nun einen Job hat ,der ihn sicher bezahlt und sein handwerkliches Talent braucht und findet. Weiter so!
Paul is Sarena’s life partner for decades and I was allowed to visit him in his Moto Guzzi shop in South West London. It was a real boutique with life (Corsa italiana) and flair, but times were not easy for Guzzisti’s in England at that time and after a long struggle they had to give up and close the shop. You can’t pay four workers just on old spare parts and repairs on Guzzis from the seventies.
you can’t pay four workers. That was not seen and misjudged in the Guzzi scene at the time. In Colombres he can often be seen with a beautiful V750S in black/green. He was often known to be grumpy and snippy, but the last year in Colombres he has been friendly and in a joking mood as life has turned in his favour and he now has a job that pays him securely and needs and finds his craft talent. Keep it up!
