Pete Philipps und Michael Wilkins
Pete the Bee, wie er immer genannt wurde, da er von der Bienenzucht lebte hat sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten im Süden von Wales in der Gegend von Narbeth, ganz versteckt in der Landschaft und in der Nähe eines alten keltischen Dorfes, ein Haus aufgebaut, komplett autark, mit Photovoltaikanlage, zwei eigenen Quellen, Holz und Pferde. Seine Frau Dee steht ihm dabei tatkräftig zur Seite. Umwerfender Platz in dieser Welt und ich hoffe bald mal wieder Pete&Dee dort besuchen zu können.
Getroofen habe ich ihn zuerst in Colombres mit Alan von Fishguard und er war mit seiner alten V7 in schwarz und chrom dabei. Immer freundlich und ein ausgefülltes Leben im Gesicht. Oft am Lachen und ein Genießer der die Straßen liest.
Pete the Bee, as he was always called because he made his living from beekeeping, has built up a house in the south of Wales in the Narbeth area, completely hidden in the countryside and near an old Celtic village, completely self-sufficient, with a photovoltaic system, two own springs, wood and horses. His wife Dee is actively assisting him. It’s a stunning place in this world and I hope to visit Pete&Dee there again soon.
I first met him in Colombres with Alan from Fishguard and he was there with his old V7 in black and chrome. Always friendly and a full life on his face. Often laughing and a bon vivant who reads the streets.
Michael wohnt nicht weit von Dennis entfernt in Burnham und das erste Mal traf ich ihn auch in Colombres, wo er mit einer 50ccm Bantam an den Start ging und auch Richard sein 50ccm Bantam in Denises kleinen Transporter verstaut hatte. Die drei fuhren mit der Fähre von Südengland nach Santander und hatte dann noch lediglich 120 km bis nach Colombres im Picos de Europa. Machbar. Wenn wir Colombres ansteuern sind das 1400 km, aber das macht uns nichts, denn es ist jedesmal wie ein Heim kommen.
Ich schätze Michael sehr, denn was auch immer ihm in seinem Leben geschah, er ist optimistisch und such die Lösung. Ein sehr angenehmer Zeitgenosse.
Michael lives not far from Dennis in Burnham and the first time I met him was also in Colombres, where he was racing a 50cc Bantam and Richard had also stowed his 50cc Bantam in Denise’s small van. The three of them took the ferry from the south of England to Santander and then had only 120 km to Colombres in the Picos de Europa. Doable. I appreciate Michael very much, because whatever happened to him in his life, he is optimistic and looks for the solution. He is a very pleasant person to be around.
