Alan kenne ich auch schon 20 Jahre und im Anfang war er mit der Gruppe um Dennis mit dabei, aber sein Charakter war wohl nicht kompatibel. Ich konnte und kann ihn immer leiden. Er hat in Fishguard in Südwales einen kleinen, aber feinen Juwelierladen und ist mit seinen alten Motorrädern viel unterwegs. Hoffe ihn in Colombres bald mal wieder zu treffen. Als er mich 2007 mal mit einer kleinen Einzylinder besuchte und über Probleme mit der Kupplung klagte, fanden wir heraus, dass die Kupplungsausrückstange, die von links die rechte Kupplung betätigte aus Silber gemacht wurde und wundersameweise kleiner wurde. Das lag am Material. Dazu gäbe es noch so manche Anekdote zu erzählen. Bis bald, Alan.
I’ve known Alan for 20 years and in the beginning he was in the group with Dennis, but his character wasn’t compatible. I could and can always like him. He has a small but nice jewellery shop in Fishguard in South Wales and travels a lot with his old motorbikes. I hope to meet him again soon in Colombres. When he visited me in 2007 with a small single-cylinder and complained about problems with the clutch, we found out that the clutch release rod that operated the right clutch from the left was made of silver and miraculously became smaller. Richard kam oft mit Michael&Dennis aus Burnham mit dem kleinen FIAT-Transporter von Dennis mit. Darin passten drei Mopeds (klein) in Tüchern gehüllt und verzurrt. Meist waren es Bantams SS50, Zweitakt. Allerdings hab ich Richard auch schon mal von der Fähre aus Santander ankommen sehen und das ist eine Leistung, denn keine Autobahn, wunderschöne Landstraßen, kaum mehr als 60 km/h, da wird eine Steigung lang. Und zur Fähre nach Portsmouth muss er von London auch noch kommen.
Ich hoffe ihn bald wieder zu sehen. Er nimmt sich gerne zurück und bleibt bescheiden.

Richard often came along with Michael&Dennis from Burnham in Dennis‘ small FIAT van. Three mopeds (small) fit in it, wrapped in cloth and lashed down. Mostly they were Bantams SS50, two-stroke. However, I have seen Richard arrive from the ferry from Santander and that is quite an achievement, because no motorway, beautiful country roads, hardly more than 60 km/h, there is a climb. And he still has to get to the ferry to Portsmouth from London.
I hope to see him again soon. He likes to take it easy and stay humble.
