Bei der Überschrift fällt mir immer zwei wichtige Szenen ein. Das sind zum einen die Touren mit Martin und Hanna nach Colombres/Asturien, die auch noch immer zu einem Muß Anfang Oktober jeden Jahres gehören und die epische Reise mit Sarah und Dennis durch Korsika. Wir waren dezent unterwegs, genoßen den Schwarzwald auf kleinen Sträßchen, erklimmten den Gotthard und erlebten den Lago Maggiore bei 30 Grad. Eine Unterkunft mit riesigen Weinfässern im Keller und unsere Garage für die Nacht, der Fährhafen Savonna und die Ankunft am Morgen in Bastia, Cap Corse im Frühling voller Wildblumen, in Porto durch die Nacht feiern, Corte und St. Pancrace/Cyrnea. Sarah aus Sommerset hatte ihre moderne Yamaha mit dabei und Dennis fuhr klassisch mit seiner Guzzi Le Mans III.
Viele haben in den letzten Jahrzehnten das Motorrad verkauft und sich einen schicken Audi gekauft, sind auf E-Bikes umgestiegen oder lassen die alte Schönheit unter einer Plane vergammeln.
Die Lust auf Reisen hat mich, und damit ist das Reisen mit einem klassischen Motorrad gemeint, nie verlassen. Bis auf alte Volvos Kombi sind mir Autos ein Graus, Fahrrad und Bahn ist eine Alternative (bis auf die Bahn halt) oder eben das alte Stück Eisen immer wieder zu erneuern und pflegen.
How It All Started
The Moto Guzzi Club GB was established in 1976 by a small band of 40 enthusiasts. The Club now has approximately 2,500 members in the UK, Ireland and Overseas, and more than 40 local branches.
We are a club for all Moto Guzzi enthusiasts and cater for bikes ranging from the older single-cylinder Guzzis through to the modern „V“ twins.
We encourage friendly interaction between fellow motorcycle riders – whatever their choice of bike – through our club magazine as well as rallies, ride outs, club stands at shows, social media, and of course individual branch meetings.
The Guzzi Spirit
The Club recognises and supports the special ‚Guzzi Spirit‘ that exists between Moto Guzzi bikes and the people who love them. Our aim is to share and promote this Spirit.
We of course welcome riders of any marque, as long as they have a love for Guzzis! In fact, some of our members have quite a varied collection in their garage.
Moto Guzzi owners usually stay true to the brand, and more often than not, just one Guzzi isn’t enough.
This Spirit is international, and connects all models from the oldest single-cylinder Guzzis through to the latest V-Twins. It even expresses itself in regular pilgrimages to ‚Radunos‘ (Gatherings) at the Guzzi factory in Mandello del Lario, on the shores of Lake Como in Italy.
In 2021 the Moto Guzzi factory celebrated 100 years of continuous production at the same location.
